Hey everybody, a huge patch has been deployed to improve SportsTicker and Scroll.

Better color mapping for Scroll

A better color mapping algorithm has been developed for Scroll. As these screens will also be displayed on LED, dark colors need to be remapped to more vivid colors to improve constrast on LED displays.

The algorithm has been improved to be more accurate while maintaining vividness.

Less redundancy

SportsTicker algorithm has been improved to reduce displaying the same things over and over. The priority system has been rethought so important games take the lead, but without looping.

Betting odds

Betting odds are now supported for Soccer & Basketball leagues. Also fixed the display for these sports on the sidebar.

Fire TV freeze

Major optimization of the garbage collection for SportsTicker so it does not freeze on Fire TV anymore. Transparency is now disabled on Fire TV by default.

Switching leagues

When switching leagues on the SportsTicker or Scroll, timeline will immediately refresh without required user interaction.

Infrastructure

Major caching redesign with SportsTicker and Scroll timelines now being centralized in an attempt at reducing the bandwidth usage due to high increase in volume. ConnectedRoom is serving about 10 millions HTTP requests per week and we are in the off season, at the lowest peak of sports.

ConnectedRoom OS is near release

ConnectedRoom OS is near release as the ConnectedRoom Scroll production approaches. Major features are in development for IoT and many physical products are being prepared.

Scroll will now display shortened team names

To reduce the scroll duration between two games, some team names have been shortened.

Countdown to game time

Games that are not played in the current day will now display a date & time instead of a countdown, to save on the width of scrolling cards.

Future games

When there are no games in the near future, it is now displaying the next games of the season for each team.
