The smoothness is definitely reduced. This is what this update is bringing.
It cannot be sharp if smoothed, and blurriness was coming into play due to antialiasing.
From the video you sent, the main banner looks as expected, but the bottom banner can definitely be improved for the Top Stocks
I still deployed a quick patch on your Scroll that increases GPU memory allocation to see if it improves

Of course it can be fixed. This is why this is a beta.
If you can describe what choppiness you are experiencing and send a video of it, we’ll look into that

I am seeing the bottom banner not as smooth as well. Been playing with speeds to find a smooth setting
I am also seeing what feels like the whole thing doing a small stutter.
Readability seems better. Lower ticker font still feels squished and hard to read, or just feels small?. Love the smooth of the top and readability seems great.

Yes, bottom ticker definitely seems choppy right now.
I will find the right speed for it.
I will explain in details what is going on:
Bottom ticker moves left by X amount of pixels 60 times per second (60fps)
Because it is using a multiplier of the main banner speed, sometimes it ends of being a decimal number (0.6px, or 0.4px let say)
The engine is rounding these number, so 1 frame out of 60 may ended moving by 0, or 1
It creates a “freeze” for 1 frame making it looks choppy
The solution is to find the right speed so it always ends up being at least 1px, making it never get rounded.
I will deploy a fix for tomorrow

I’m finding 3 to be skippy and not smoother. 4 makes the top smooth, and 5 start to get to fast.
Can’t seem to get stocks and sports news to both be on? Stocks seem much stepper. But does feel much more readable!

Tried 1.0.2 (not sure the changes)
4 still seems great for the sports scores. Bottom may be better? But still choppy. Then still getting a full hiccup (near the end) probably every 15 seconds or so?
Are sports news and sports ticker after one another now?
Does news cycle new updates while running or only at certain intervals?

Just curious:
Do you think being able to control the speed of each banner separately would be a good solution for this issue?

Maybe for testing? Maybe a debug slider that shows my a little more granular choices? Or a text box that I can understand the math?
I would be curious at what speeds things feel smooth for both top and bottom.
I will personally pick whatever feels smoothest as I notice things like that, but maybe others would prefer speed over smoothness?
I think long term there is slow medium fast, all at smooth settings and maybe a sync or faster lower scroll button?

What you are asking is basically impossible without inducing blur.
The whole point of this update is to stop displaying things in between LED dots; it creates blurriness.
There is a constraint to move by at least 1px each frame.
When you select it slow, at 60 frames per second, 1px represents 60 pixels per second
60 pixels per second is far from slow
So we need frame skipping for slower speeds
Meaning that we can do something like, move by 1px every 15 frames instead of every frame
This creates a micro freeze
Any ticker will have the same behaviour, the reason that ConnectedRoom Scroll did not have that was by poor design choice, inducing blur.
The dual speed control would just allow you to select a different speed manually per banner, it would be final and not for debugging purposes.

To follow up, scroll speed 2 and the espn line seems smooth. Scroll 4 and the scores seems smooth. No combo works for both.
Also still having lots of jumps and stutters. 1.0.9
