Powering the screen off remotely is easy and possible, but once it is off, programmatically powering it back on would require it to be in a “dormant” state and greatly reduce its longevity.
By having a smart plug that controls the power in ConnectedRoom will allow the screen to be really powered off.
In the future, we will integrate a power relay inside of the circuit to allow power to be controlled remotely, but this solution would not be possible for the first version we sold by design. This solution would also not allow ConnectedRoom OS devices to power on and off remotely as we do not control the hardware. This is why we focus on a integrated Smart Plug solution for Scrolls and ConnectedRoom OS devices instead.
